A 2 stage project hatched with Verity Coyle, NUS VP for Welfare in 2003, along with the student unions of the manchester Universities to create a co-operative model for student housing in the UK. The 1st stage was to create a report showing how it could be done, the 2nd to then do a pilot design for one to ten seek further funding. We got very close but not close enough. However I am proud to say a group of students in Birmingham picked up the 1st stage report and got on and set up the UK's 1st student housing co-op
